Maundy Thursday Celebration
April 1, 2010 at 5:30

The Seder Meal is one part of the Jewish Passover festival, symbolizing the saving grace of God, past and present. We participate in the Seder because it was during Jesus' last Passover celebration with his disciples that the Lord's Supper was instituted. It reminds us of Jesus' roots in Judaism.

The symbolic foods needed for the meal are:
  • Haroset
  • Parsley
  • Boiled Eggs
  • Horseradish
  • Matzah Bread
  • Grape Juice
  • Lamb
The rest of the menu will be a pot-luck supper. Items like Chicken with Matzah balls, small kosher egg noodles, vegetables, Borscht, Chicken, Turkey, Beef. Third Avenue will provide the lamb. At a Seder meal pork and/or ham would never be served. Dessert is fresh fruit, as dairy products (milk, cheese, etc) are never served at the same meal or on the same dishes as meat meals. If you would like to bring a symbolic food for the Seder Meal, and/or help set up or clean up, please see the sign up sheets next to the kitchen.
